Safety & Environment

Our Safety Commitment

Canadian Helicopters is committed to ensuring safety is the highest priority at each and every level of our operation. Our ultimate goal is to produce an accident and injury free environment. To this end, Canadian's culture is founded on the principles of continuous training, vigilance, prevention, open communication, and the development of a safety based business.

The health and safety of employees and passengers as well as the protection of the environment and our customers' assets are of the utmost importance.

Our Safety Performance

Canadian Helicopters' safety record is a testament to our comprehensive safety and training programs. We have successfully completed technical and safety audits by numerous domestic and international organizations who are significant users of helicopters. Canadian Helicopters is also recognized by programs such as the Alberta Provincial Government's 'Certificate of Recognition', Helicopter Association International's 'Platinum Program of Safety', and Work Safe Alberta's 'Best Safety Peformer' awards (2003, 2005 and 2008).

With over 50 years of experience and millions of flight hours, Canadian Helicopters is a leader in establishing safety standards and operating procedures. Canadian encourages independent safety and technical audits. We view technical audits as an excellent method of evaluating safety standards and performance.

Our Safety Program

Canadian's Safety Programs are designed to heighten safety awareness, environmental protection and provide operational policies and guidelines for both air and ground operations.

Senior management commitment to safety is the driving force behind our safety culture. Our Safety Programs are administered at the senior management level providing each division with the experience and authority to administer company safety programs effectively.

Components of Canadian Helicopters' Safety Programs include:
  • Confidential Hazard Reporting Programs available to all employees
  • Safety Training that is actively encouraged and supported throughout Canadian Helicopters
  • Company flight and maintenance standards that exceed regulatory requirements
  • Human performance and decision-making training in aviation that is provided to both flight and maintenance staff
  • Regular base and field safety audits
  • The sharing of incident and product reliability reports throughout the company in support of Preventative Maintenance and Flight Safety programs.
  • Safety incentive and awards programs

We encourage every member of our staff to be proactive in maintaining safety awareness.
